Borgerstein asbl, founded in 1974, has grown into a social enterprise that currently operates in three areas: care for adults with intellectual disabilities, elderly care and social employment. Borgerstein currently employs more than 600 employees.

Disability care

For the care of people with disabilities, they have been recognized since September 2016 as a licensed care provider. They offer care and services in various forms: day and/or night care, outpatient supervision and supported employment. The largest group of clients is accommodated in their buildings in Sint-Katelijne-Waver (Kapelweg 7), but they also have several houses in the city of Mechelen. In addition to “basic care,” Borgerstein also provides care for people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), people with increased mental vulnerability and people with additional motor problems.

Eldercare

Borgerhof residential care home is located at Kapelweg 9. They’re focus is on normalized living. Respect and the warm relationship between residents, staff and family or informal caregivers are the core values of this residential care home. Borgerhof can accommodate 120 elderly people.

Employment

As a third component, they offer employment to people with a distance to the labor market. Their tailor-made company ‘WEBO’ specializes in packaging assignments, electrical assembly, green care and enclave. WEBO is located at Kempenarestraat 57 in Sint-Katelijne-Waver.

Uptime Group

Some 3 years ago, Borgerstein contacted Uptime Group in the context of their new construction project.  At that time, Borgerstein’s IT environment was severely outdated and no longer reliable enough for the new location. This, coupled with a limited IT team of 2 people, made them look for a partner who could support them in building a future-proof environment in line with the quality that Borgerstein wants to deliver to its clients.

The new building gave us the advantage as integrator to start with a blank page with emphasis on standardization and harmonization of the IT systems and with a cloud first strategy that would ensure that not only the new building location but also future locations could be integrated in this flexible platform through the MPLS network of Telenet.
